‘Tis the Season for Giving

23 Dec 2016

In keeping with the Christmas spirit, DSTA staff brought some festive cheer to the less fortunate through the Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift programme.

Every December, DSTA staff rally together to contribute to the programme, fulfilling the wish lists of beneficiaries from several voluntary welfare organisations. This year, DSTA staff fulfilled close to 300 wishes, for gifts that ranged from household items such as rice cookers and mattresses, to personal essentials such as milk powder and knee braces. Many younger beneficiaries also received a variety of books, bags and sports equipment.

Besides buying and wrapping the gifts, some staff penned personalised messages for their recipients to wish them a happy holiday season.

For some, the programme helped to end the year on a meaningful note. Engineer (Systems Management) Kurinchi D/O Pugazhendhi said: “I’m happy to spread joy during this festive period and bring a smile to the less fortunate. As the year draws to a close, it is time for us to reflect, count our blessings and pay it forward.”

A regular participant of the annual programme since 2006, Programme Manager (Air Systems) Yeau Wenjie said: “Fulfilling the beneficiaries’ wishes allows me to share some love during this festive season. I hope this will encourage them and let them know that there are people who care for them.”
