Designed and developed by DSTA, the new Mobilisation and Equipping Centre (MEC) aggregates assets under one roof and allows National Service (NS) units to plan, brief and equip troops swiftly and efficiently during mobilisation. DSTA conceptualised the building’s design and oversaw the building’s construction.
This one-stop facility provides units with better command, control and progress monitoring of mobilisation and equipping activities, thereby reducing the time and resources required for operation preparations. DSTA implemented an efficient zoning of workflow, which allows NSmen to enter and exit the facility without affecting vehicular traffic within the building.
In addition, the team designed IT-enabled check-in counters so that reporting NSmen can be quickly registered. To optimise the use of space within the MEC, the team also created mezzanine levels that serve as personnel holding areas during mobilisation.
