A Heart for the Community

Caring for the community is in DSTA’s DNA. Beyond driving innovation and pushing boundaries to deliver the best capabilities for the SAF, our people are also committed to giving back to the broader community through regular donations and volunteerism.

At this year’s Community Chest Award ceremony, DSTA received the SHARE Platinum Award and Charity Silver Award. Organised by Community Chest Singapore, the philanthropy and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service, the award ceremony recognises organisations and individuals who have contributed significantly to the social service sector, as well as demonstrated excellence through fundraising and donations, volunteerism and inclusive practices. The event was graced by Singapore President, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and hosted by Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minister for Health & Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli.

Com Chest 2024Deputy Chief Executive (Strategic Development) Lee Eng Hua received the SHARE Platinum Award on behalf of DSTA from Minister Masagos.

Since 2019, over 90% of DSTA staff have participated in the SHARE Auto-inclusion Scheme, making a lasting difference to the community through monthly monetary contributions for the less fortunate. In addition, DSTA has also raised funds for organisations such as Singapore Association for Visually Handicapped and Children’s Aid Society’s Melrose Care Counselling & Psychotherapy Services, among others.

Apart from fundraising, staff at the department level also proactively organise activities that reflect our commitment to Corporate Society Responsibility, under DSTA’s Volunteer-With-Impact initiative to do good for the underprivileged as well as the environment. These include blood donation drives, distribution of meals for low-income families and beach clean-ups, among others.

Small acts of kindness can create a lasting, positive impact on others. Deputy Chief Executive (Strategic Development) Lee Eng Hua shares the DSTA way to do so:
