Celebrating Singapore’s Birthday Through Sports for Good

08 Aug 2024

Singapore Sports Hub was filled with red and white as DSTA celebrated our National Day Observance Ceremony on 8 August 2024. It was also an opportunity for staff to give back to the community while embracing Singapore’s vibrant sports culture.

To get the ball rolling, staff took part in a fun heritage trail and photo hunt activity around Singapore Sports Hub. Staff got creative with their poses while working up a sweat, and the most creative poses stood a chance to win exciting prizes.

The fun didn’t stop there! There were various sports and mass activities for staff to choose from, including table tennis, floorball, zumba and many others. Staff had the opportunity to bond with their fellow colleagues while getting fit at the same time. To keep with the spirit of giving, they were encouraged to donate generously before participating in the activities. The total amount donated went to the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS).

No National Day Observance Ceremony would be complete without coming together as one DSTA to sing the National Anthem and take the National Pledge. Reinforcing this year’s NDP theme “Together, As One United People”, the event ended off nicely with a mass dance to the vibrant beats and colourful movements of the Dance of the Nation 2024 to this year’s National Day theme song ‘Not Alone’.

It was truly an eventful and meaningful day to remember. Happy 59th birthday, Singapore!
