The festive season is about celebrating with loved ones for most, but spreading the cheer doesn’t just stop there for us! Once again, the 17th year in a row, our staff took to the gift sleds and delivered joy to the less fortunate through the Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift Programme.
From daily necessities such as clothes and food to electrical appliances and toys, our gifts – fulfilling close to 300 wishes – were delivered to beneficiaries from various voluntary welfare organisations along with our well wishes and words of encouragement.
Assistant Procurement Manager (Procurement) Geralyn Yip, who gifted necessities and snacks such as medicated oil and local favourite biscuits, hoped that her gifts would bring the recipients comfort. She said: “It warms my heart whenever I think about how happy our beneficiaries would be to receive our gifts. After all, the true meaning of the festive season is to share and give to others.”
Likewise, Principal Engineer (InfoComm Infrastructure) Aileen Swee saw this programme as a valuable opportunity to make a difference in the community. She explained: “I’d participated in Share-a-Gift programmes previously, and I’m definitely looking forward to fulfilling more wishes in the future. I hope my gifts remind the beneficiaries of the care our community has for them.”
“This programme reflects our compassion as one DSTA, and we do our best to represent this individually,” added Senior Technical Officer (Building & Infrastructure) Richard Lim, who found solidarity in his colleagues and fellow participants of the programme.
Deputy Head (Navy Tactical C2) Xiao Yu Guang, another frequent participant of the programme since 2018, shared: “The programme is so deeply meaningful, yet so easy to participate in. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to fulfil the wishes of those in need. I encourage everyone to contribute to this joyous cause in the future!”
