A group of volunteers from Enterprise IT Programme Centre embarked on DSTA’s Volunteer-A-Day programme, bringing much joy to children from Singapore’s Children Society Jurong Youth Centre on 7 October 2016.

The day started with a series of icebreaker games, followed by some art and craft where the children used pyssla beads to create pop culture souvenirs.

The group set off to the eagerly anticipated Forest Adventure where the children tackled challenging obstacles high above the ground. It was not long before they overcame their fear of heights and started to explore the tree tops excitedly as our volunteers encouraged them.

Senior Engineer Catherine Low, a first-time volunteer, shared: "Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces is very heartwarming. This is a really meaningful event, and I am glad to have been part of it."

Engineer Robin Ang added: “Encouraging the children to overcome their fears and watching them gain confidence with the completion of each obstacle gave me a deep sense of fulfilment. I am so proud of the children for completing the treetop obstacle course."
