Celebrating as One Public Service

11 Jul 2018

The Public Service Week was held from 2 July to 8 July, with officers from the various agencies coming together to celebrate as one public service through a variety of activities.

Themed “One Public Service: Stepping Up Transformation”, this year’s Public Service Week emphasises that each officer can play a part to build a future-ready Public Service.

As part of the Public Service Week celebrations, DSTA joined the MINDEF Observance Ceremony on 3 July. The event’s guest-of-honour Permanent Secretary (Defence) Chan Yeng Kit co-hosted a dialogue session with Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) Neo Kian Hong on the topic of innovation and transformation.

Following the dialogue, attendees sang the National Anthem and recited the Public Service Pledge to renew their commitment to the Public Service. There was also an exhibition held outside the auditorium showcasing various projects by MINDEF, the SAF and DSTA for attendees to learn more about one another’s latest innovations.

On the same day, Head (Governance & Compliance) Selvakumar S/O Kodilingam and Programme Director (Air Systems) Elizabeth Heng were among the 600 public officers who attended the tea reception hosted by President Halimah Yacob at the Istana. This is a yearly event held as part of the Public Service Week to recognise public officers’ contributions to the civil service.

Sharing that the evening was a memorable one, Selvakumar added that meeting officers from other public agencies was a key highlight. He said: “Though we come from different agencies, we have the same purpose, which is to serve our fellow Singaporeans with pride, and honour. That is the most satisfying part of our journey as public servants.”
