Rallying Together for Charity

21 Nov 2017

Team DSTA rallied together for their second OCBC Cycle and raised funds for four beneficiaries.

In the wee hours of the morning on 19 November 2017, 30 DSTA engineers joined some 6,000 other cycling enthusiasts at the Singapore Sports Hub for the community rides of OCBC Cycle 2017.

Having prepared themselves with several practice sessions ahead of the race, Team DSTA was geared up and raring to go for the 42-kilometre race. Some were members of the DSTA Cycling Special Interest Group, who roped in their colleagues to join the ride.

Starting their cycle at 5am from the Singapore Sports Hub, the group enjoyed the scenic views of the city skyline as they pedalled past various Singapore landmarks en route. Along the way, the participants also took the chance to snap a few photos and get to know their teammates better.

The good company was made even better by the great cause. Participating for the second time in the Business Times Cycle of Hope Corporate Bike Ride, Team DSTA raised close to $3,400 for four beneficiaries, placing DSTA among the top 3 corporate donors.

“Sporting events like this are a great way to get to know your colleagues, both within and outside your programme centres. It was a fruitful and enjoyable experience for me, especially since I was able to contribute to charity as well,” shared first-time participant Engineer (Land Systems) Basil Lee.

“It’s heartening to see that there are more Team DSTA participants this year, and I hope that even more colleagues will join us for next year!” said Head Engineering (Structural Dynamics) Seah Chong Chiang.
